Nextcloud isn't the easiest thing to get going, but I haven't tried their latest docker based instructions. If you try to do nextcloud, look up their official docs as the installation method has changed substantially since the instructions on landchad were written.
If you don't own the hardware, on premise, then you don't own your data. They can pull the rug under you at anytime (Like Amazon did to Parler) or share it with city-states without your knowledge (secret court orders).
I don't want a blank server space where I have to setup and configure a OS.
If you don't want to build it from scratch, or maintain the OS yourself, then a ready-made HW+SW solution is your best bet. People mentioned QNAP, which is not a bad advise, but there are other vendors out there (Synology, Drobo ...etc)
I use a QNAP, I store my movies in there, I also autoupload my phone photos and it acts as a sftp server. You can encrypt your data and has 2 factor authentication.
It supports setting VMs but I never used that.
Oracle cloud offers 200GB block storage, 4 ARM CPU cores with 24GB RAM, and plenty of bandwidth all for free, but that does require a bit of setup and configuration.
Looking for a secure personal cloud basically. I don't want a blank server space where I have to setup and configure a OS. Don't really want to have it more technical than setting up an SSH connection.
Why do you need an OS?
Sounds to me like you just need dumb storage. S3 will work for that.
landchad.net
Yeah, basically.

S3 spaces are called buckets, other products use different terminology but the concept is the same.
