If you don't own the hardware, on premise, then you don't own your data. They can pull the rug under you at anytime (Like Amazon did to Parler) or share it with city-states without your knowledge (secret court orders).
I don't want a blank server space where I have to setup and configure a OS.
If you don't want to build it from scratch, or maintain the OS yourself, then a ready-made HW+SW solution is your best bet. People mentioned QNAP, which is not a bad advise, but there are other vendors out there (Synology, Drobo ...etc)
