Hilarious. Batman is their every definition of a fascist. He is a rich white vigilante whose every waking moment is spent beating up criminals, I'm sorry the underprivileged, or else trying to make money to use on more vigilantism. He is literally the white savior.
To anyone who hasn't figured it out yet, they're out to ruin the things you enjoy. They have no other tangible goal besides to take something and warp it until it isn't recognizable.
Eric's a clear thinker, but not a very clear communicator.
It's really hard to listen to these meandering diatribes where he takes ten minutes to say what could be condensed into one.
True. I chalk it up to his passion for comic books.
I think he repeats himself too much. In that ten minutes he'll say the same thing 3 or 4 or a dozen times. Not for everything but when he does it's noticeable.
Most of Eric's videos are clips from his podcast. I'm not sure if he's deliberately going on these tangents where he just repeats himself for ten minutes so that he can clip them and make them into stand-alone YouTube videos, but that would certainly involve a great deal of self-discipline and forethought.
I really think this is just how he talks, and unfortunately, some people are just better at stream-of-consciousness than others. It's too bad, because he's definitely got a lot of knowledge and insight about comics, and from what I've seen of his Twitter, he's an absolute savage on there.
Good example here.
In my professional life I've noticed that often when I explain things once people don't understand what I'm saying, so I was forced to adjust my speaking style to explaining the same thing 4-5 times in different ways in the hope the people I'm speaking to would understand at least one of them. Of course to the person who understands what I'm trying to say the first time this seems redundant and repetitive, but it does help more people understand what I'm saying who otherwise wouldn't.
Perhaps ideally I would simply learn which of the 4-5 explanations was most effective and simply tailor my speech to that, but I'm not sure that's always possible or even a constant.
I've never listened to Eric July explain something so I don't know if that's what he's doing, but it is a possible good-faith explanation for him repeating himself.
On YouTube yes
Ridiculous. I still buy older comic books but had no idea about this. It’s like the writers can’t help but make the character their avatar.
