They are capitalizing on the Ukraine war to sell a MIG-29 airplane model. Is not hat bad.
I mean, model airplanes are kind of a niche hobby. If they can grab a current news event to sell more kits to people that might otherwise have not bought them I say go for it.
I'm old enough to remember all the Desert Storm themed kits, figurines, and trading cards that came out in the early 1990's.
Virtue signalling. Yuck.
Now a next level move would have been to jack the price up 60% or more before pledging to donate that 50%.
Okay, so one of the store websites I frequent is Hobbylink Japan. It's a good hobby/import site, you can get model kits of different kinds, including the big one, Gundam (I have several Gundam Action Figure Model Kits/Gunpla from the main franchise backordered and others being shipped this week), and yet the Ukrainian Virtue Signal industry STILL managed to rear its ugly head!
Look at this! First celebrities, then war-mongering presidential runs, then anti-Russian business sanctions, now pro-Ukraine model kits based on false people, is there ANYTHING that the Ukraine Virtue Signal industry WON'T fuck up with its mere presence?
EDIT: I mean COME ON, GUYS! The internet memes practically write themselves!
I just checked on HobbySearch: They also carry this crap.
AmiAmi however does not list it in their catalog, I guess I will be directing my orders there.
"made in Ukraine"
Nice to see the country fighting a war for its "survival" has the spare resources to manufacture model airplanes and sell them to foreigners.
i mean, the people making toys probably arent soldiers.
More to the point, a modern military both has greater strategic reach and a longer lead-up than in previous eras. Ukraine doesn't have the luxury of spending months training up a new citizen levy or building a new tank factory within cruise missile range of the enemy, so relying on foreign military aid from countries that Russia cannot retaliate against to keep their existing standing army at peak effectiveness might really be the best strategy.
Is it like that cheap chinese RC fighter?
ICM is a Ukrainian company raising money for their own armed forces in a time of war. It's not great that they're repeating the lie of the Ghost of Kyiv, but there's nothing unreasonable about what they're doing.
yeah if anything i fully support them doing this, because i'm not being robbed here.
theyve finally started admitting it was fake. lol
