Turn them into radiation exposure lab rats. Moderate lethal radiation causes only mild illness for a few days, then a couple weeks of seemingly normal health. Then the gut starts to break down and they have a a couple weeks of extreme pain and nausea and then they die. ( Contrast this with severe lethal radiation that merely cooks them and kills them much faster )
We'll try to save them, which prolongs their suffering AND advances science.
I dunno. Sounds nice on the surface, but Isn't that how you get super mutants? I don't want to turn them into super mutants.
