Yeah, because raw flour has had a number of E. coli outbreaks in the past decade. That's the reason why you shouldn't eat raw cookie dough, not the eggs. So yeah, the warning label exists for stupid people who don't know better. Nice self own. 👍
My mom always let me eat the cookie dough. I can't imagine kids in her era didn't eat it either. Seems odd that it's now a problem.
I mean, I'm not going to go knocking raw cookie dough out of people's hands and you can easily pasteurize flour to make it safe to eat when raw. Likewise, the rise of E. coli outbreaks traced to raw flour is little over a decade old. End of the day, it's important to realize that raw flour shouldn't be treated any different than raw meats in that they likely won't make you ill, but you should understand the potential risks and judge for yourself.
