But what if it's true? Some of us shifted "right", some haven't. It's undeniable that the Overton window has driven society more and more off a cliff. Some people who really haven't changed and were hippies who believed in peace, love, equality, and free sex are now considered alt-right extremists.
Being constantly surprised when the inevitable happens isn't a good thing. Leftist ideology has accelerated suddenly, but it hasn't changed direction. It was always going this way. Assuming there were no consequences for the cause you felt was benign in the 70s and then being surprised that there were, makes you a dupe.
People who say, "the left left me," are the foot soldiers who willingly are used for a time before looking around and asking, "was this always rubble here?" The whole time they were aggressively condescending against those who opposed the crusade they blithely participated in.
It troubles me that they can confidently presume they have no responsibility for the current state of affairs "I was just who I was believing what I was believing and suddenly that isn't cool, and that excuses me for the outcomes of everything I championed that turned out wrong in the meantime." The Road to Hell.
Chapo here, admits that he walked with the earliest homosexual protests in the 70s, and the "good Christian Calgarians pelted us with eggs." And he doesn't grasp that if they wanted to hurt you, they wouldn't have used eggs. They were responding to your demonstration with a peaceful demonstration of their own. And you couldn't conceive of it. It was hostile action (kind of like your disruption of their lives in your raucous, vainglorious, show of force was to them) that couldn't be tolerated because it fit in with your assumption of what evil was.
My political views have changed a ton compared to where I once was. I supported the Iraq War for example. Getting burned by that sticks with me. I'll never trust interventionalists again.
Also, the early gay rights movement was infested with pedo shit (i.e. Harry Hay). They had to distance themselves from it to gain mass appeal. Supporting them in the 1970s is even worse than supporting them in the 90s-2010s.
Some people believed it was a tug-of-war, where they had to pull hard to move the rope a little bit because the other side was also doing the same against them.
That's not unreasonable nor is it reasonable to expect the opposition to stop tugging against you and run full speed toward your side, leaving you flat-footed and shocked at the excessive gains you made.
If their end goal in the 70s was anti-white racism and sexism, mediocrity in hiring, and trans story hour then yeah it's fair to hold them responsible. But if what they wanted was short of these things it's not fair to hold them responsible for conservatives turning into limp-wristed pussies that couldn't pull back anymore.
conservatives turning into limp-wristed pussies that couldn't pull back anymore.
The author of 'None Dare Call It Conspiracy' correctly pointed out that Tricky Dick Nixon was part of this camp in 1971. Conservatives-who-conserve-nothing have been a thing for a lot longer than most people realize. Perhaps since before the moniker 'conservative' was even coined.
This reasoning is pretty much why I give Regan a pass on his mass amnesty. Not his fault that the uniparty then went full steam ahead on mass illegal immigration and never fixed anything for the next 35 years.
I truly despise purity testers like yourself. You should be happy people are joining your side now, but instead you throw an tantrum because they didn’t join your side yesterday. You will never be content.
I'm not the person you originally replied to, but are people who have a wildly different and contradictory worldview on your side? Just because someone thinks SJWs are making shitty consumer entertainment products doesn't mean we won't have some rather glaring disagreements, including on issue that are far more important than pop culture losing its appeal.
No, no it's not. Exterminating conservatives who think gays marching for their rights is the equivalent pedos is actually the more peaceful thing. You eliminate the casually violent side, peace is attained.
I have less than zero interest in humoring or tolerating marxism funtime school dropouts. Probably "peace" and most definitely "equality" is entirely antithetical to being right wing or reactionary, and anyone that expects me to accommodate such views and people is the enemy.

Damn, you're right.
Excellent points

You call pelting someone with eggs a peaceful demonstration. You're a fucking moron.
It's more peaceful than the HIV+ assless chap parade showing up to wag their dicks at children.

It's like the distinction between non-lethal and less-lethal munitions. One term is more accurate than the other, but both cover the same intent.
So, by that logic, trad cucks in ovens is considered pest control.
Better than killing them. So yeah I guess.
No. No it isn't. It's still a violent attack. This is why you get arrested for assault when you throw eggs.
