There are two answers to explain what is happening:

First being the Gen Z one is easily explained by the fact that it's always been trendy to identify with something that isn't what you are for virtue signalling points, this time it's 'Queer'. 140 years ago, it was having TB.

Millennials is about right for the average.

As for the second answer, I wonder what started happening around 45 years ago that would make the gay population dwindle...
