Sometimes TheImp has a point. Don't think a male doctor would do this. Male doctors seem to prize their dispassions (archive.ph)

That has definitely held true for the women in my family. They all go through cycles where one fights with another and they stop speaking for one or two years. Then they'll reconcile and things are okay for a period of time, but eventually they have another blow-up that leads to a prolonged period of no contact. My mom and my sister, my sister and my SIL, my SIL and her mom, etc.

None of them seem to be able to get into a heated argument and then let it go.

That has never happened with any of the men in my family.

I remember getting into an argument with my Mom about ten years ago. It got heated and she was crying and yelling. Towards the end she said, "We are done! Done!!"

I assumed she meant we're done arguing for now, but she explained that she meant we are done for good. As in our relationship is over. I was like wtf are you talking about?? You're my mom and I'm your son. How could you even think about ending our relationship over a verbal disagreement?

To my Mom's credit, eventually she realized that she was acting like a huge bitch all the time after my step-dad divorced her. Now she's way more chill and just goes with the flow, and she's based af which has brought us very close ever since Covid hit.
