On that note, Edward Snowden and Neil deGrasse Tyson are "left-wing"? The latter can be a pretty annoying guy but I don't think he's political. If Snowden is left-wing because he's anti-imperialist, then Assange must be left-wing, but lefties hate him.

I dont think snowden ever talks about 'leftist' policies, that ive seen. he mostly leans towards liberty and freedom over leftie politics.
