Eh... wouldn't surprise me at all. It's just that these stupid ideas are in the air, and they sometimes find their manifestations in places where you do not expect it.

E.g. I lost a lot of respect for Skye Williams when he asserted that faggots are called faggots because they had to carry wood to be burned - when homosexuals were not burned in the UK but hanged, and the word faggot is completely unrelated to the word for pieces of wood.

But berating people who are deceived doesn't do any good. You have to stop these things at their source.
