I hate this mindset so much. it's implied that the only issue here, is that the person couldn't comply with the rules. they never question the necessity of the rules nor the severity of the punishment. they never pause to think if the problem this rule is supposed to solve, is even a problem in the first place.

you see it everywhere nowadays with COVID. it's exhausting. we need mandates because... because we just do okay????
