July 4th is still fun in the US because despite efforts to cause division it's enjoyed by both blacks and whites and the progressives aren't invited to either cookout. I think Juneteenth is an effort to create a wedge but blacks aren't going to stop cooking out on July 4th; they'll just cook out on both days.
See, the problem is viewed as like… Our “Columbus Day”…
It isn’t that (Cook arrived at a different time of year), but that is how it is conventionally… Perceived. So it is easy for them to wedge.
However I did just read a poll, earlier tonight, from two years ago, which said that 70% (!!) of Aboriginals “surveyed”, support keeping the date. 70%!!
So if they can’t even win the demographic they claim to be doing this for then they clearly do not have “the moral high ground”…
Only problem is that it has “majority support”, sort of, among under-25s, and under-30s (my age group), because, at a guess, this generation is the most brainwashed to hate their own country…
That’s the worrying stat. 😑
If we have a Prime Minister who can unilaterally change an anthem lyric, to virtue signal and win “woke points”, mid-pandemic, AND do what they did to Djokovic, I would seriously worry that the “elite” may just change the date anyway, at some point, even without actual majority support…
tl;dr: was friends with naturalized auzzie, she went to london, drank the koolaid, went home, noticed same disease in already rotting cunt city.
Back when I used to talk with a girl I was friends with for years, she was a naturalized citizen of aussieland, but was born in Malaysia (han chinese ancestry), she started talking about how Australia Day was a great thing (back in 2001-05). Over the years, she said it was getting boring with all the people complaining how it was racist overshadowing the actual celebration. This changed around 2010-11. She moved to England and suddenly everything became 'feminist this, men control that, rich boarding school prats lecturing each other on the train about man spreading, white people are discriminating against me because I am foreign, australian, and a woman.' But she was trying to become a barrister in the rich firms of London (where these entitled rich racists actually exist). At the same time, she was mocking her cousin for being an entitled princess over her wedding to a white man and wanting her rich parents to pay for it all. I stopped talking to her when suddenly all white people were racists, misogynists who hate foreigners and australia day (she went home to visit her sister for her birthday) was a celebration of colonialism.
This bitch was in Melbourne her entire life there. Their Port Land/San Francisco. The worst she had to worry about was the Tram not showing up on time, her bitch of a psycho cunt boss (seems to be the field), and rent being raised. Yet, all her friends and fellow Mobournians were the same fucking way about their home. Fuck them.
SideNote: Isn't this the day of the national races?
This is like peak Aussie expat story, ngl. Like, holy shit, that hits close to the bone, lol...
Like, spot on. Yep.
National races? There's a ferry race on Sydney Harbour, or there used to be, which was fucking awesome (those things can go proper fast, when they want to!), but other than that, not sure what you mean..?
Horse racing. Must be another day. She liked to go in early, go on lunch to get her ticket, then get off early to watch it. It's the day long event for one horse race, she said people got shitfaced early and stayed that way for the entire event.
She was from Melbourne, so it was undoubtedly Melbourne Cup Day. Or just “Cup Day”, if you prefer.
First Tuesday in November, I believe. Each year. Only a public holiday in Melbourne (I think they even cancelled the holiday, during Covid, the last two years, lol)…
Horrible, horrible event, even if I admit to have participated in tipping and sweeps. More horses died during it in the past decade than ever before, and yet the fucking vegans refuse to touch it, lol…
So yeah, can’t say I’m a fan, but your, uhh, “ex friend” sounds like exactly the sort of person who would do exactly as you describe, lol!
It’s a good day to get shit-faced, if, I imagine, extremely expensive to do so, lol…
But yeah, I admit that one makes even me uncomfortable, and always has…
I think if I was there, and saw a horse being shot for my entertainment, I would probably require more than a few drinks, just to… Deal with that. 😑
What the fuck are they doing to the horses that they have to be put down? When horses die in american races, its because they lost a leg either through an unfixable break they literally lost it. You can't save a horse once the leg is gone, it's just a reality. Most of these horses, they are so 'thoroughly' bred, they have weak joints and the stress of racing makes itself present.
My uncle raises racing horses and he doesn't buy/breed those weak-kneed race-fillers. Had a few that were injured and took up to 18 months getting them back in shape to spare them having be put down. Most of his horses he sells for breeding stock or riding animals once they no longer race. He's a real fucking asshole, but he couldn't put down his horses when age/illness got to them, my dad had to.
It’s worth looking at that site to see just how… “Flat” the whole thing has become. How muted. How sad. How painfully woke. How almost every event excludes the “unjabbed”…
Even on LockdownSkepticismAU, which purports to be on “our” side, fighting against this oppressive bullshit, I got absolutely pilloried, for daring to want to celebrate on this day, and make the most of it.
Oh, and I’m “banned” from most community events, for again “daring” to not be doubly-vaxxed…
I absolutely fucking hate what is going on right now. I am disgusted by it. I truly am.
How on earth did this country go from what it was, even only a decade ago, to this??!
Well, my family did tell me that being "unvaccinated" makes me "broken", and "You know how to fix that!", so... Maybe you're right about that much.
Fucking sad times, when families turn on themselves...
Normally it's the kids turning on/turning in the parents for "wrongthink", but not in my case...
My parents have always been conformist drones. Not sure exactly how I ended up not being one, but I imagine I had the "desire to conform" beaten out of me... :-/
After all, what's the point in "playing along" when "playing along" means you get beaten up, and completely fucking ruined anyway..? I guess at some point you stop trying to appease your abusers, too, right? Ha.
Gotta learn the hard way, right?
In the end... Maybe that's a good thing. Just fucking sucks right now... :-(
Happy Australia Day aussies.. for however long it can last. Don't worry your friendly neighbourhood feminist is going to lecture you on how racist it is just like they do in the US for Columbus day, Thanksgiving etc.
So I just happened to overhear a convo between my dad (woketard) and his older brother this morning...
My uncle lives in Sydney, right. Like, the city at the centre of Australia Day. The reason we even have Australia Day. And naturally the city that has the biggest celebration (along with Perth), but also the second-biggest protests (after Melbourne, naturally, where everything has to be bigger and more extreme)...
So anyway, my Dad wishes him happy Aus Day. To which he claps back with "It's Invasion Day here, get it right."
This is someone who is notably not woke, or at least, has shown little inclination towards it in the past, but who is a) an academic, and a very rich 1%er, b) a complete arsehole, and c) a researcher who literally spent most of his career working for the Chinese government, owns a flat in Beijing (or maybe Shanghai. Idk and I don't really care), and was spending up to half a year living there, each year, prior to the "plannedemic", at least partly to get away from his very devout Lutheran wife...
If that doesn't speak to how compromised the people pushing for this change, including my own "family" are, I'm not sure what does... :-/
This after I was already lectured at Christmas time by another one of their brothers for calling it Australia Day, instead of "Invasion Day", and lectured by both him and my own mother, who purports to be Christian (anyone heard of Steiner/anthroposophy?), for saying Merry Christmas, rather than "Happy Holidays"...
I've never felt so alienated from my family in all my life. Send halp... :-/
Yeah, this might explain why I'm so fucked up, lol... This is what I deal with, on the reg.

Ooh, I can answer this one for you, actually!

Bloody Melbourne. 🤮

GAHHH!
Yes, I'm sure you'd like me to follow you to your troll cave so you can eat me. Jesus.
Haha ngl, this is the most I've laughed so far today. Brilliant! Thanks for this, lol. Bravo!
