I'm only familiar with Australian history and facts in passing, so thank you in shedding some light and explaining some of the stuff to me.
That is true, people who never experienced these hardships really tend to ignore or make bad choices that inevitably leads to that. The article said that Serbia will enact some diplomatic blowback against Australia. I fear it may not be big, nor will the Australian government care.
It is sad to see such a great country fall like that. I thought that a place that was used as a prison of sorts by England would understand the idea of freedom. But I guess I was wrong.
It is so very disturbing and disheartening to see what is happening there.
You know how Americans go on and on about the whole “greatest country in the world” thing..?
Imagine that, combined with the rhetoric of the “Shit Americans Say” subreddit, in order to differentiate Aus from the US (modern Australians really, really don’t like America. Americans? Fine. But America as a country? It’s the done thing, in “liberal” circles, to just… Endlessly shit all over America, and it’s obsession with “free-dumb”, in the words of my countrymen…).
Add to that toxic combination, a very, very strange dose of government-worship, and specific worship of the woke nanny state, in a way that I have never seen, in the northern hemisphere…
Even Jante countries aren’t quite this… Obsessed with “le state”, and “le government is right”, IMHO…
Only Australia, NZ, a few other Pacific countries, and, obviously, places like Argentina and maybe Chile, behave like this…
It’s bizarre.
But yeah, I could go on, but just…
When you think of “Australia”, you’re seeing the image governments here want you to see. That’s why you’re surprised.
I, as someone who was born in and grew up here, saw this coming a mile off. If it wasn’t this, it would have been “terror” (which they still use as an excuse to intrude in our lives, of course), or domestic violence, or… “We have to reform society to prevent climate change, or combat racism!”
There was always something coming. It’s just that this provided the perfect opportunity…
And unfortunately, I managed to find myself caught up in it.
Islands, man. There’s something about isolated, faraway islands that perhaps breeds this kind of shit. Combined with the prison colony heritage (which wokies seem determined to make us forget, btw), that you mention, you end up with a very, very weird state of play…
And then along comes Novak, and an insane government, both state and federal, decides to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Ooh, final thing: look up more of the rhetoric behind this decision. The “reasoning” the government gave. The powers that the minister has, here, and that the court signed off on.
That is what scares me, and that is what should worry you, too.
This is not really about Novak. It could’ve been anyone.
This is about a government that is treating unvaccinated people, including me, as “extremists”, increasingly akin to literal terrorists, and what happens to terrorists, you may ask..?
Remember though there are quite a lot of people that do like America, heaps of them in Melbourn and Sydeny, the all want to emulate places like California and New York though. Sad people IMHO.
Governments around the world have been searching for the right forms of words to use in order to scare people into just giving up their civil liberties for about fifty years or so, I think. Turns out it was this.
I saw the reason, it is absurd. I feel that it will justify the reaction people will have against the government. That despite him following all the rules, it was still not enough. Maybe it will have the Streisand effect?
But I do think you are right, and what happens in Australia may inspire other people elsewhere and happen in other places too.
America is powerful, as in, whatever happens there is almost guaranteed to happen in other countries. Australia may not hold that "advantage", as only America has that power, but it does have enough power to affect others.
You were absolutely correct, based on what you said, this was coming, one way or the other :/
The socialist propaganda to hate America is rife everywhere.

Scary times, man. It really is. 😣
