I don't know where you're going with this but it did help that we were separated geographically from the USSR whereas the Balkan states and Eastern Europe were not so lucky. I also wouldn't say that there's no violent subjugation going on here, as though thugs don't routinely attack anyone to the right of Stalin. The one advantage we have is privately owned firearms, and gun confiscation was usually one of the first acts the communists would do after they took over an area.

Yes, that is what I said. You expect me to believe that the people who couldn't control their neighbors, who couldn't control themselves, somehow 'infiltrated' a country across the other side of the globe - so that it's still under their sway 30 years after their collapse.
