One doesn't cancel out the other. It shouldn't be used in males because of myocarditis. It shouldn't be used in females because it affects the reproductive system. Strange periods is just the minimal evidence it has an effect, but we won't know what other effects it may cause for years. The reproductive system is critical for our species, regardless of which sex the damage is in. That's in addition to the other side effects that occur in both sexes, the lack of ability to stop the virus, the amount of injections required (each with risks), and the low relative risk of the actual virus.
yay, targeted viruses to wipe out groups they deem problematic.
Yep, that's 100% where this science leads. Ethnically targetted, bioengineered viruses.
It's coming.
And then some mixed-race euro-ashka-blasian catches it, it mutates, and kills all society.
Fermi's paradox is solved: Conflict advances people. People advanced enough to travel the stars are also stupid enough to make bioweapons.
"Ethically targeted, femgineered viruses made with diversity. It's a good thing"
We're also downplaying that it concentrates in the ovaries, and at least causes unusual periods
