I recently read Kenobi by John Jackson Miller. It is a Star Wars book that takes place in the old EU/Legends timeline. The story basically reads like a space western since while he has to watch over baby Luke, he gets involved in disputes between the settlers and Tusken Raiders.
I don't have Disney Plus anymore and pretty much the only Star Wars content I consume is the old EU books and comic books. I will never understand why Disney didn't just use those for a sequel plot or what idiot had the idea to not have Luke in episode 7 and then to have him as a grumpy hermit. They could've easily done it like DC where they have their canon stuff and then have animated movies adapted from the Thrawn Trilogy or NJO.
I remember when I heard that Disney bought Star Wars because they wanted something that appealed to boys. I can't believe that is true.
It is, just not in the way people thought it was. They didn't want to appeal to men, they wanted to destroy it for ESG funds from Ann Cairns' 30% Club.
Looks like they're starting to run out of cash though. Disney got downgraded from buy to hold.
I could also argue that appeal to boys is exactly what they are going for, but boys meaning young boys (kids) and as a subversion tactic. Average 12 year old boy is not going to be attuned enough to catch the woke messaging being snuck in, but it makes them grow up with this stuff being normal.
That too, but I believe they are more motivated by our misery than anything else.
I think that is part of the reason they made Mandalorian. Wasn’t great but compared to the sequels it was amazing
Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia is a very fun, easy to read series.
I’ll check it out. I’ve heard good things about him.
His other books are great as well, I especially enjoyed Grimnoir Chronicles, and that's finished as well, though he is planning another trilogy in the same universe.
MHI has a spinoff by John Ringo called Monster Hunter Memoirs. I liked that as well. All Correia books are absolute freedom boners and Ringo's Memoirs are the same like that.
Have you read Jim Butcher's Dresden Files before? They always get mentioned along with Correia. A goofy wizard detective and all. This one is a super long series, though. 17 books and 2 short story collections at this point in time, but it's not done.
Darth Bane trilogy is something I read a s a kid, so it can't be that hard. It's not a kid's book. It's great.
Bought that recently. In my pile to read
Name of the Wind and its sequel are super long but easy to read, add that too, and preferably bump them up to the top. They're fantasy.
If you like fantasy and don't mind kids books, The Chronicles of Prydain is great, classic stuff from before kids literature was bogged down by THE MESSAGE.
Cool! Thanks
Moby Dick
Horus heresy and battletech books. Easy read, and fun.
Currently reading way of the clans: exodus road.
Thanks! Will check it out
