Much attention went to Justice Clarence Thomas over his remarks on the abortion case, but Kavanaugh also posed a surprisingly based question to the state. (voca.ro)

I listened to much of the court audio, but it was hard. This female attorney's replies were so ridiculous that I couldn't help but roll my eyes and bite my lips several times listening to arguments this stupid. It was hard to tell if she simply didn't understand the questions being asked of her or if she was playing dumb on purpose because she knows her case is so weak.

At one point she was asked if the state had any basis other than viability for the court to consider, because obviously 15 weeks is arbitrary and there would be future cases revolving around 10 weeks or 8 weeks, etc., and she just says that she can't think of any more principled stance to take than viability.

I always thought of Kavanaugh as a weak momma's boy, but he stepped up here.

Even a broken clock can be right twice a day I suppose. The only firebrand is Thomas, and even then I think that's more because he has a score to settle with Biden.

I agree, I'm definitely being hyperbolic.

Reading his responses on the election lawsuits, 2a punts, and other cases that have come before the SC, I don't think I'm out of line to say he might be the only man with principles, or at least respect for rule of law and the constitution on the SC, despite what his personal feelings may be.

Kavanaugh is all words, no substance. He along with ACB are cowards that bend to the left’s will at any sign of heat.

We’ll see. I have a feeling this will get knocked down to the states by the court. There’s nothing more terrifying for Democrats than not being able to kill children. It’s sure to increase voter turnout!

He had a good question, but the answer was nonsensical.

There is no "right" to have an abortion. That's just word soup made up over the years by elves in the media. The courts never ruled on it.

Instead, courts made a ridiculous ruling "based around" the 4th and 9th amendment stating that the government had no authority to breach the privacy of a citizen in medical affairs. Look how well that goes over outside abortion.

The rulings also always dodged every argument about viability and about life. Under every other interpretation of the law, abortion would be counted as murder after viability is reached.

Roe v. Wade no matter how you look at it was an awful ruling that should be appealed.

It's interesting. He made the point that there are two interests involved, the fetus and the mother. She then replied that you can't limit the rights of a woman, completely ignoring that he just brought up the rights of the fetus as well.

If that's the best argument they have then I look forward to seeing it struck down.
