This was a political lynching. It’s not surprising that the state will do everything in its power to persecute him. The legal system has been a court of public opinion not law and procedure. Hopefully this reaches a tipping point soon where communities pull an Athens and kick out the police and politicians by force.
The constitution guarantees the right to an attorney. If he is being denied a public defender, then he is either a) a non-citizen or b) subhuman in the eyes of the state.
Even for the worst criminals, this is a terrible precedent to set.
Doggy, i don't know where you've been the past year but we've got political prisoners and the feds are biden's personal gestapo, this experiment's over, were pretty damn close to the actual worst case scenario, the only thing scaring them off from that is probably the thought of all those people with guns they can't force into camps just for supporting trump.
He has nothing to lose by appealing. He might at least get a charge thrown out, as Mohamed Noor did. And he has numerous grounds to ask for a new trial. Just as one example, an activist lied to get on the jury.
Appeal judges are always reluctant to grant a new trial, but when you're facing long years in prison, it's worth a shot.
Having been to court I will tell you that the if you can't afford an attorney part of that statement is dead serious. As a couch surfing college student I had a car and 3k for tuition. They were like nope you can afford it. Knowing I would get crushed without one I spent all my tuition money to fight what was essentially a clerical error.
I can see you're being down voted to hell.
But Exactally this. Normies are stupid as fuck and when they see a smug asshole cop slowly killing a black man in front of a bunch of people without a moment of consideration for the man, they now believe this happens all the time. Floyd gave BLM a rallying cry to destory society and chauvin is reposible for that in a much more serious way than he is responsible for killing George Floyd.
Floyd killed himself. If people are too stupid to see that, then what makes you think Chauvin could have done anything to make that situation look better?
Yes I really do. I do not think there were many things Chauvin could have done to keep George Floyd out of the ground, but there are many things Chauvin could have done to keep himself out of jail. Those are the same things that would have helped relax the strain on a society already coming apart.
Yes it’s his fault. Not the emotional retards who feel bad for a drugged out loser because he is black. Not the dumbass who overdosed on fentanyl and fought a cop, after passing fake money to a store owner, after pointing a gun at a pregnant woman like the genius he is.
No, Chauvin, the guy who had to clean up the trash he never asked for, that guy is the source of all problems.

His retirement funds (which he cannot withdraw without facing crippling charges) are considered personal funds.

It's best he doesn't get one. He would have less chance than I'd have of walking free of hate speech charges with a female judge.
Public defenders are for people the state wants free. They will influence the decision towards what the state wants.

What? Why is it better that he not get another trial in another jurisdiction when he's already railroaded to hell?
I mean getting a public defender. If he really wants to appeal, he needs his own lawyer who is throughly vetted.
...How is that even legal?

$32,000 is jackshit for a trial like this. He easily need $100k for any attorney to take this case.
Show trial
He was convicted, but he wants to appeal.
Fuck this pig. Hope he rots in prison.
You mean that violent, psychotic mob surrounding them and threatening them with violence? He could not check on Floyd precisely because of that.
Dude, you can't distinguish between a trigger and a cause. They were going to do that anyway, just in response to something else.

That's him in the most iconic picture: https://gfx.wiadomosci.radiozet.pl/var/radiozetwiadomosci/storage/images/swiat/wyrok-ws.-zabojstwa-george-a-floyda.-derek-chauvin-uznany-za-winnego/9913718-1-pol-PL/Wyrok-ws.-zabojstwa-George-a-Floyda.-Derek-Chauvin-uznany-za-winnego_article.jpg
You can't be serious.
Feminists still would have run their BLM racket, they just would have used a different target.
Still never ceases to amaze me that the guy who they made an Emmanuel Goldstein is called Chauvin, as in Chauvinistic - a prejudice against women.
The heavens have a dark sense of humor.

You clearly didn't watch any of the trial
