If/when my drum roaster dies I may try to make one out of a rotisserie toaster oven. Which is basically all my roaster is, except with a fancier temperature controller.
The vertical spin type? Then you'd mount some kind of cage on the rod? Sounds workable.
Rod is horizontal. My roaster is a heating element in the back and a basket that rotates around a horizontal rod.
Basically a purpose-built Showtime Rotisserie cooker with ventilation.
