Dykes to Watchout For: Sexist term created about men being a minority on campus, thus believing there is a larger dating pool for them to choose from, women most affected. - Sarah Lawrence College. (archive.ph)

A lack of competition has led these men to develop “golden penis syndrome” — an arrogance that stems from the assumption that a steady supply of females will be sexually interested in them.

For the top men, yes. This isn't news!

“Golden penis syndrome” has led these smug males to engage in dastardly dating practices, such as cheating and ghosting, because they’re confident that another woman will always be waiting around the corner.

Why don't women a) stop offering sex in the vain hope of snagging one of these top men and/or b) shame the living hell out of the women who keep offering sex to these men? You're enabling the men who do this!!

“We’re seeing a generation of young men who think they’re Adam Driver or Michael B. Jordan. Of course, it’s not about them. It’s the ratio.”

Again, the small number of top men. Lest we forget the decreasing rates of sex for men in general and the increase in age at which men lose their virginity (if at all).

College-educated women are more likely to date among their own milieu of college-educated men, but as their numbers are so skewed, they’re in for a rougher time.

Ie, they generally date men that make as much or more than them. They will have to widen their net to include men that make less than them if they want to increase their odds of finding someone, but they won't. That'd be "settling" and the current zeitgeist is still that you can "have it all" and can get the absolute top man. Pay no attention to that scale you're breaking or the tens of thousands in college loan debt you took on so you could get your mass communications degree. It'll all work out. Somehow.

He also advises women to be assertive when pursing [sic, get a copy-editor goddamn] romance, stating: “Fact is, men like women who like them.

True, a lot of men out there're saying these college-educated women are entitled and really don't know how to show appreciation, care, what have you. See above re: having it all.

Also, a man is much less likely to take advantage of a woman who puts herself out there.”

What's this even mean??? A big part of the problem is women are having sex with this minority of men because they're deluded enough to think they'll get a relationship out of it! Never mind that women are doing the same thing. Look up "Foodie calls."

But, hey, maybe I'm wrong. I don't think anyone should have sex with someone they wouldn't want to raise a child with, and that's awfully passé in the hellscape of 2021.

Edit since this has bugged me all evening. The article reads like the author forgot to add the 2nd half. It stops right in the middle of nowhere. And with the last part, this guy is ostensibly offering advice but a.) Whatever point he's making isn't conveyed and b.) Its vagueness makes it completely useless to women. It feels like more useless platitudes that don't actually do anything except make the person saying them feel good about "helping" someone else. Why even bother including it

Because they are editing out the advice parts for useless platitudes and feels good man. They don't want to inform, only get rage clicks. Which is why the NYPost is a tabloid and archived.
