Then I don't know why you think he was told it's a Nerf gun. (or figuratively, a non-working prop) I wasn't there but that doesn't sound reasonable. I agree it's not his job to make sure the barrel is clear, but I would not be surprised if he didn't do exactly as told. (knowing him, people are probably afraid to scream at him about safety)
