Love Chucky (and Brad Dourif) but holy shit I don't think I'll be able to watch any more of this complete garbage.
Every single woke stereotype you can think of is checked on this list.
And that's not to mention that the writing is god-awful, even without the woke crap. Chucky hanging out with middle schoolers - who thinks this shit up?
What part of this is surprising at this point?
That’s what I thought. If I watch a show made after 14 someone I really trust has to recommend it.
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil (horror comedy)
IMHO surpasses Shaun of the Dead as best horror comedy made.
"These kids just keep killing themselves in our woods" is one of the funniest lines I've ever heard.
Mandy!
I don't know if you can call it pure horror, more like surrealistic horror-thriller? Movie is a visual delight, and Nicholas Cage gives a fantastic performance, especially as he transitions through the movie to carry out certain deeds.
It can be quite gruesome and gory at times, definitely a trippy film, but it has a feel all its own, an awesome soundtrack, and some of the best color grading since the best films the 1980s had to offer.
Again, it's not for everyone, but it has no wokeness, and it features Nicholas Cage in an awesome chainsaw fight sequence while also carrying around one of the most wicked looking axes ever put to film.
Cage has actually been on a roll recently. Mandy, Colors Out of Space, Willy's Wonderland, Pig (took a 2nd viewing to enjoy that one).
You're right, Cage really is picking some interesting roles. I've enjoyed Mandy, Colors out of Space, and especially Willy's Wonderland, which is like Five Nights At Freddy's meets a badass John Carpenter hero hocked up on power-up juice. I love that movie!
I haven't seen Pig yet, but thanks for reminding me. I think I'll need to check it out sooner rather than later.
Although, I would advise people stay away from Jiu Jitsu. That film is horrible. I checked it out because of Cage and Frank Grillo, but man that movie was horrible.
I'll keep that in mind. Pig is very different, it's extremely slow paced and there is no big pay-off. It's advertised as a revenge film, which it isn't -
MINOR SPOILER: It's one man's personal journey in how to heal after his wife dies.
Most things on Shudder.com don't seem to have woke bullshit in it - although half of it is foreign, so that kinda makes sense.
There's also this nifty site: https://ratedby.app/community/woke/movies
Check out 'The Day of the Lord'
I fucking loved kills. The covid shit won't be until the third movie. Kills is a decent ending for me if Ends sucks.
Lords of Salem, Underwater, The Witch, the Autopsy of Jane Doe, 10 Cloverfield lane
Produced by Shlomo Shekelstein
Well, Don Mancini is openly gay so I'm not surprised. I don't know if it bothers me. I mean Seed of Chucky was a straight up rip off of Glen or Glenda so yeah, this series has been going this way for a while now. I can't be assed to give two shits about it really. Chucky is one of those franchises where it's more mediocre than quality anyways.
It was pretty obvious when they announced that the main dude was gay and then reminded you that he's gay a thousand times
What kind of woke stuff? I didn’t watch. It’s a show made in 2021. Plus using a franchise from the 80s
Let me guess, every time a black character is shown the conversation has to shift to racism?
Sparingly racism has not been mentioned. The main kid's love interest is a another black kid (feels weird typing this considering the main characters are middle schoolers, so 14).
But two episodes in, they have plenty of time.
Besides, when you cut through the bullshit, LGBT don't give a shit about "people of color".
Christ, I'm only 9 minutes in and intrigued as hell. Thanks for the recommendation.
I'll look at it thanks. Just finished Slasher Season 3 on Shudder, pretty good, very little "woke".
main character gay (no issue with this except they throw it in your face constantly: hey, remember he's gay? He likes guys, did we mention he likes the dick?
homophobic abusive father (this isn't the 90s)
evil white, blonde hair, blue eyed girl
"gender-fluid" although ironically it was used in probably the only accurate time ever (referring to Chucky's genderless son)
Heavy emphasis on gay kid being bullied (again, this isn't the 90s)
There were other instances as well but I stopped paying attention to the middle school drama after a while.
We're so oppressed, we only have full multinational corporations and biggest western armies in the world supporting us!! Boo hoo!
...and academia, and every major municipal outlet that isn't in a red state (and even then, sometimes in red states).
Not intending to derail the conversation, but if I remember correctly a study from earlier this year that showed the massive cultural shift in favor of LGBT+ individuals over the last decade or so actually did almost nothing to decrease their stress, feelings of distress or suicide rate, and in some cases actually made it worse.
Here's a link to the study: https://archive.ph/ggkXy
I'm sorry, but I never bought the whole argument that the host of behavioral problems exhibited by LGBT+ peoples is due to the stress of being unaccepted by society. There are too many negative behaviors and issues correlated to being LGBT+. This includes things like higher rates of violence (esp. in gay women), higher rate of childhood abuse, considerably higher suicide rate (esp. in trans peoples), much higher rate of contracting AIDs (primarily in gay men), higher likelihood to be victims of sexual assault as an adult, etc. There's very clearly something else going on here that is contributing to these issues but nobody is willing to research the topic for fear of being cancelled for asking questions.
Only two of these three can exist together now and 1. and 2. cannot be grouped together. Solve.
