Yeah, my impression is that it's an academic thing, then amplified by the media and big tech. Though again, my experience of it, IRL, has mostly been at our (Australian) universities... Also fucking art galleries and museums. Pretty much anywhere "academic". See also: arty, "hipster" festivals (you know the ones).
But yes, I do think helicopter parents played a massive, massive part. And then those mollycoddled retards had it fed to them at school, and then even more so at Uni...

Also, not for profits, dude... Don't underestimate how much influence those fucking places have. And they have their tentacles in everything.
I should know. I was "radicalised" by a few of those, for a while. From like, age 13 onwards. So it's a thing, from personal experience... At least in my shitty upper-middle-class orbit, growing up...
