OK, I'm making an account just to say this. Speaking as a trans woman: this is probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Who in their life has ever used the word "jannie" as a slur? I don't understand some people in our community. I think if you're going this far you need to take a step back for a while... It's feeding the trolls and even to me just comes off as attention whoring
That’s what it’s all about though. LGBT is basically “look at me, I’m special!”. Doing your thing in the shadows wasn’t enough. Now everyone must be forced to accept and validate it like it’s normal when it isn’t.

It hadn't ever occurred to me to connect the terms "trannie" and "jannie" until Merari connected the two. Although I was aware that a significant proportion of Reddit's powermods were trans, I had never associated them. Especially since I've only ever heard "jannie" in the context of forum moderators.
