Not meaning to be callous, but what's the baseline here?
Being a police officer is a stressful job. Given the baseline rate and the size of the department, what's the "usual" rate for this kind of thing?
That's before we even get to determining if the protest was a causal factor. Kind of stink of post hoc ergo propter hoc, tbh
17 out of 100k. For comparison the general population is 13 out of 100k.
I don't know if there is something to this or if officer in the DC area are more likely to commit suicide, but I still have trouble believing these officers were bothered enough to commit suicide over a protest.
To be fair, Jeffrey Epstein and John McAfee were in very stressful situations too....
Another stat to check is how much of the force was sent to the Capitol that day.
