Doesn't matter if they're overpaid, underpaid or paid identically. Simple fact is:
They freely negotiated and signed a contract. Then they realized that if they'd signed the men's contract they might get paid more. And then they complained.
If you're not happy with your contract, quit or renegotiate next time it's up. Schrodinger's Contract that shifts based on your performance to always pay you more doesn't exist.
It ddid matter when they went to court over this only to find out they are paid more than the mens team.
It also matters cause it made them look like the victim complex loving people they are.
This is also why the team sux. The team mentality is going to be about why the others had an advantage than playing your heart out.
There are reasons why you're advised to get a lawyer to read ANY contract before signing it, no matter how simple/dytstraightforward it seems.
No reason it couldn't. You would just need to write it that way (explicitly define a large list of scenarios and schedule of compensation with the condition that the one most favorable to you at a given time will be in force), and find someone dumb enough to sign it.
That last one's pretty tricky, though.
Maybe notch a win or two against school boys under the age of 15 before banging the oppression drums for a contract you willingly signed? Just a thought.

Fact is the sport doesn't generate revenue and as other sites/stories have pointed out, the USWNT earns a higher percentage of revenues than their male counterparts. The revenues are terrible because they don't draw fans in the stands. I can't imagine why...
They also just lost to Canada, lol.
Relevant.
Considering getting more than a dollar would be overpaying..
