I continue to re-iterate that Furries are the "canary in the coal-mine" of a free society. If they are either hunted or uplifted by the state; it is an admission that the government has failed in it's responsibility to focus on real problems and core issues
The problem with furries is less their porn and more the fact that their communities are open-air mental asylums. There's an unbelievable amount of very clearly mentally ill people who find themselves a support group of other mentally ill people, who will all convince eachother that their mental illness is something positive. This pattern, exemplified by pre-porn-ban tumblr, and now breeding on reddit and twitter, is the plague of internet communities - and furries are an almost exclusively online community.
As you point out: it is the plague of internet communities.
Frankly, I'd actually argue that furries have been as harmed by Leftism and the inernet as every other cultural institution.
Obviously, furries are not a cultural institution, just a fandom. But consider the prevalence of homosexual furry art, as compared to the 1970's & 1980's when furry art was predominantly heterosexual in nature. And was typically as comedic as "The Lusty Argonian Maid". Even for a niche, counter-cultural, degenerate, community of introverted geeks; some normalization would have existed through their required physical social interactions.
I think the fandom's online nature has likely made it more degenerate and homosexual than it would otherwise have been, and that is the result of modern technological (and likely political) influences on the culture of relatively young people.
Strangely, I would bet that stronger physical communities may make them less degenerate; though I would add a caveat to that. A physical community would only make them less degenerate if the influence of Leftism wasn't present. I actually think normal social interaction has a moderating presence; but Leftism promotes a pathological approach to all human interactions.
A union of Communist accountants would descend into madness, sociopathy, and degeneracy; but a grouping of "right-wing furries" would probably result in only a moderate amount of degeneracy.

I agree.

I've encountered this observation before. It was before my discovery of the community, really, but looking at old furry art, and the work of older artists who've been active since the 80's , heterosexual art with was still the overwhelming majority of content even through the 90's.
It was only in the 2000's that hetero and vanilla content started to really get squeezed into a smaller corner of the community.

Probably. If not 'less degenerate', then certainly 'less fucking obnoxious and in-your-face about it'. I could probably babble on at length about the behavior trends I notice in SJW furfags and those who avoid such subjects like typical 'shy conservatives'.

Yeah, I think anyone who isn't a Leftist furry or a genuine furfag, would try to maintain respectability towards the group or community; where this would not be the case as we see from something like Pride.

Yeah, we're pretty much on the same page here.
