She is the daughter of a black US marine, a colonizer. She is the physical embodiment of America forcing itself upon the Japanese, both culturally and physically.

Don't be a midwit. Women are fickle and quick to jump in bed with conquering armies. She wouldn't exist if America didn't physically annex Japanese territory. It's a larger point about the nature of America's relationship with Japan going back to Commodore Perry, and the current targeting of Japan by global homogenization.
