If Germany had got a Franco or Pinochet figure instead of Hitler, history would have been very different.
They got Ludendorff who directly enabled both Lenin and Hitler.
Ludendorff was a complete incompetent. He randomly threw men against the Entente lines waiting for something to happen.
He was good against Russian generals in 1914. Or was it more of Hindenburg's work?
Hindenburg was responsible for those successes, but he got promoted to politicing while Ludendorff got lost in the sauce directing the actual fighting.
