Took me a while to figure it out, but this is absolutely what happened. Her doctor told her she's going to die soon if she doesn't lose weight, but her fan base is pathologically hostile towards any suggestion that weight control is positive or healthy. How does she get off the gravy train without getting off the gravy train?

Solution: an eating disorder!

1. Largely self-diagnosed, so no one can deny you have it.

2. Generates complete sympathy among progressives, no questions asked - so your fans can't turn on you without becoming assholes under their own rubric.

3. Gives you the results you need as a plausibly definable "side effect".

So one of the most visible figures (heh) in the body positivity/ fat acceptance movement has had to fake a mental illness in order to escape the movement's doctrines so that she can save her own life. This is easily the best evidence so far that the body positivity/fat acceptance ideology has morphed into a death cult.
