No, hirsutism is a genuine endocrinal issue, that can and should be treated. It does seem to hit some ethnicities worse than others, as well.
It usually just manifests as a bit of a mustache, though. And this is aside from what can happen after menopause in the natural course of life.
They bring up a good point. An estimated 1-2% of Americans have red hair. I don't know how many women have beards, but I'm 100% sure it's below 1%.
