Cancel Culture is a very milquetoast way of describing the damage leftists cause (and the corporations that enable this). It’s not unreasonable to refer to Cancel Culture as economic terrorism. The goal is to intimidate society by publicly destroying a dissident’s life in the hopes that either the mob will kill them or that the dissident will commit suicide due to having every traditional economic opportunity taken away from them.

Not only that, but we already have other words for 'cancel culture'. It's group shunning. Ostracization. Social exile.
It's an authoritarian method of social control typically practiced by religious groups who lack legal means to punish their members.
The stupidest term I've ever heard for 'cancel culture' is 'free market in action'"
'Cancel culture' is literally the exact opposite of a free market.
If you wanted to take a generously broad view then cancel culture as a whole could meet that definition, since it's net result is to selectively push competent, rational people out of the economy.
It's just an adaption of the Struggle Sessions used in West Taiwan, Mao loved 'em.
My friend attempted suicide recently because he was "cancelled" by his Twitter community. And yes, I told him over and over again that he should not be associating with people on Twitter, and he didn't listen.
Someone made a tweet saying "be honest, have you ever said the 'n-word'?" and he said "yeah, I did, it's not a big deal in my country, I'm not American". And then hundreds of people started calling him racist, 1/4 of his followers unfollowed him and he started getting death threats any time he tweeted anything. So he tried to overdose on
By the way, the community was supposedly a support/recovery community for a mental illness, where a lot of people are unstable. Which makes all of this even more unbelievable.
Sadly that only makes it more believable to me tbh, the biggest recruitment pool for the cancel cult's footsoldiers are damaged and desperate people. The thought leaders are usually pampered trust fund babies, but the people they brainwash into doing the actual dirty work always have a fucked up past. Just look at all the people they convinced to try/succeed at murdering their enemies during the riot season last year hard to find one with a stable home or steady income, you're lucky if they didn't try to diddle a kid at least once in their past.
In any large mental health support group there's always at least one senior person who namedrops social justice shit constantly and a whole bunch of freshly inducted believers who are real keen to prove themselves to their new brothers and sisters in arms.
Oh wait,, where have we seen this before?
Even the word dissident should give you the shivers.
I like "economic violence".
It co-opts a tactic the commies like to use. Take a word that has a universally accepted meaning but also that normies are conditioned to react to it in a certain way, then add qualifier it means what I want it to mean but if someone argues against me I can accuse them of being bad actors because they are supporting the original unqualified negative definition.
You're ignoring the 80+ years of crushing businesses and freedom of association, the very basis of a market economy. They were the original targets. They have since moved on.
Ayn Rand's last speech, "The Sanction of the Victims," talks about this.
"Crushing corporations is good for corporations."
Maybe you're one of the people who think corporations are a special form of Evil, but if you aren't, could you please think of another term to refer to people or corps. that collude with the state to crush the competition?
Governor Abbot refused to throw out first pitch basebal game, righty trumptards are real cancel cutlure
It's silencing your political opponents and destroying their lives.
Cancel Culture is most certainly a euphemism. Punishing and destroying your political enemies. I don't know a good term for it. The communists probably have a good word for it.
I think they call it "success".
No. We should call Cancel Culture what it actually is: Lyncherdom.
Cancer Culture works just fine and is completely descriptive.
