You're thinking there's only 2 directions but there is 4.
Left, right, libertarian and authoritarian.
Authoritarianism is the ultimate goal of any leftist political movement.
It is the goal of ANY movement: In your ideal society, you have power. It takes a very diligent person to not continue that thought process to "logically, then, the more ideal a society, the more power I have".
AnCaps and AnComs both assume they will be leaders, despite the "An". They want "An" only insofar as they themselves are not the "Auth", but on debating with countless of them, nearly all of them were AuthCaps and AuthComs in the end who just had an issue with who that Auth currently was or likely would be.
And I'm not saying having no opinion is better. I'm just saying we need to be very aware that for 90%+ of the population, and basically everyone actually involved in politics, the issue isn't level of authority, the issue is WHICH authority leads.
