Something I've noticed at work is that resentment is starting to set in for the people who have to go into the office all the time against people who mostly work from home. The former feel like they're getting a raw deal and are being somewhat taken advantage of by the latter.
I don't think these companies really understand the dynamics they're playing with in effectively segregating employees in terms of whether or not they're allowed to do their job from home. I'll admit I didn't either, as a long-time advocate of work from home.
I can understand the resentment. It's natural. I've always been pro-WFH even prior to the pandemic since commuting sucks, but it's a shit experience to have to wear the mask.
I think some companies will relax commuting requirements after this is said and done, both out of pragmatism and cost savings by reducing the office space. Many, though, will never have that benefit due to employer paranoia or logistics of the job.
I’ve started to notice it as well granted one of the guys willfully wanted to stay in the office but I can hear the jealousy in his voice when I’m WFH for the afternoon after coming in for project I can’t WFH for
