I played the first one. It made what I consider an unforgivably bad design decision: it's too long to play in one sitting, but you don't pick up where you left off when you load a game. If I'm supposed to be staving off permadeath from zombies, disease and starvation, I should never come back to the game the next day to discover my supplies have been used and not replaced, or an outpost has been overrun.
