You really think there's such a fundamental mental difference between people who'd sign up for the NG and people who'd sign up for the military?

They draw their recruits from the same style of people. The NG is probably actually better in that regard because the military is a "Merica? What ever, just get me out of the ghetto" option for many.

And yeah, sure, the marines. The marines will fix everything and also mow the lawn, make ice cream and fix the roof while they're at it.
