Really people? I know it's old now, but it's awesome. And it arguably has the best dub in anime history, past or present, so those who prefer dubs get double-benefit. It's an episodic adventure show about spacefaring bounty hunters in a semi-hard-sci-fi setting. I think their own concept-pitch statement describes it best: "It's not so much a Space Opera, as a Space Jazz."
Not exactly the same vibe as Jin-Roh though... People were giving similar recommendations.
I think the assumption is that everyone knows to watch that so everyone assumes the guy's already seen it.
