Ah, clearly written before the "Great Reset is a conspiracy theory!" glut, otherwise they wouldn't be quite so transparent with its talking points.
My most far-out musings about where all this is going included the thought that we've all been sold on some galactic pet market, and this is the pre-training period before our owners come take possession. Wouldn't that be wild?
