So two weeks ago I asked what everyone was playing. (I'm not doing that again, because I had to add half a dozen titles to my backlog, you bastards).
This time, rather than ask what you're playing, I thought I'd see how you'll be gaming this weekend.
I'll kick off with my plan for tomorrow. A few months ago, I started playing Elder Scrolls Online. In an unusual move for me (I'm an antisocial sod), I joined a guild, and signed up for one of their group dungeon events. As a result, I ended up with a regular group of people who would meet up most days, grind dungeons for some gear, and generally have some laughs. However, life events began to get in the way, and we all got a bit burned out with the ESO grind. Most of us all quit ESO, and it got to the point where we were just exchanging the occasional group chat message.
Then, last weekend, we all managed to get online at the same time (No small matter when the group comes from Australia, the Phillipines, Ireland, England and the US). We ended up on RDR2 online, which a couple of us had never played before.
And it was a fucking blast.
Drinks were had, jokes were told, bounties were failed, hilarity ensued. I hadn't realised how much I had missed the guys until we were all together again, taking the absolute piss out of each other. So tomorrow we're meeting again in RDR2. Beer is in the fridge, snacks are on standby, and I fully expect to be crying with laughter again to the point that I can't actually grip the controller.
So my question again: What will you be doing this weekend to make the most of your gaming time?
Action Taimanin. And acquiring some 9mm.
At 5pm local time today I'm calling a hiatus on political stuff for the night, and limiting it this weekend. Sitting around waiting on a slow drip of news is too unhealthy. I also have a personal rule to never do anything productive on Friday night.
I'll be gaming some all weekend, but it will all be on my own. Somehow I decided to pick up Persona 5 again after getting bored and got into it more. So a mix of that and a couple other games based on my mood. All just single-player stuff. If the weather's nice I may wax my car tomorrow and do some other little things too along with some TV watching. Nothing amazing.
I used to be into multiplayer stuff and even had days where I was really into WoW years ago and while a throwback night would be a total blast, I'm not foreseeing that happening anytime soon. Everyone moved on and I just won't open the door to actually seriously investing in a game like that ever again--so it would have to be a one-time thing. My local gaming friends have all moved on too, it's just not a thing anymore.
I'm going hiking because I can't stand being in the swamp much longer.
Got Tropico 6 in the monthly humble bundle, so I might give that a try, unless I can get some of my friends online and playing Don't Starve Together, been hooked on that since we tried it on Halloween.
And I got my biweekly DnD game to run. Just kinda want to get this arc finished so I can see if people want to jump ship to another system. I'm realizing I hate 5e.
So copious amounts of drinking over voice chat, hopefully no real politics talk.
I have papers to work on most weekend... but when not that, escape from tarkov or delving into project zomboid for the first time since the studio lost all its progress to... theft? Fire? I forget.
Mobius Front '83
Skyrim on PC
Elite Dangerous. They recently brought back Community Goals, probably due to the upcoming space legs expansion, and have a Community Goal with the Federation and Imperials in open conflict and the players can pick a side
During the thread 2 weeks ago I was recommended Axiom Verge. I had already had it on my wishlist and I said I'd definitely get it next time it was on sale.
Then it went on sale the next weekend. So that's what I've been playing for the past week, and what I plan to play this weekend. I've been playing more than usual this weekend to get my mind off the election nonsense.
I've been enjoying it. The dialogue has been kind of surprising. Based on the aesthetic I was expecting it to be super cryptic, but it's fairly straightforward.
Boardgaming, specifically Gloomhaven. Base game was great, Jaws of the Lion was wonderful, Forgotten Circles was terrible. Fortunately we're one dumbass boss fight away from putting that expansion away forever.
