I wonder if the increase in university attendance correlates with an increase in midwittery at every level of society. We have way too many secret kings these days.
It used to be that only the truly intellectually gifted went to university. Now, because of federally guaranteed student loans, anyone with a pulse can get into college.
I first tried community college in 1989, and failed out due to lack of effort on my part. I started again in 2014 after serving 20 years in the Navy, and I saw a marked decline in the difficulty of the material the 2nd time around, particularly in the English side of thing (i.e. writing.) I got to read some of my classmate papers once, in English 101, and the poor writing I saw was shocking.
