This is not how the act actually functions.

Please go read the actual words.

https://www.archives.gov/news/topics/presidential-records-act

Under the PRA, the official records of the President and his staff are owned by the United States, not by the President.

The Archivist is required to take custody of these records when the President leaves office, and to maintain them in a Federal depository. These records are eligible for access under FOIA five years after the President leaves office. The President may restrict access to specific kinds of information for up to 12 years after he leaves office, but then records are reviewed for FOIA exemptions only. This legislation took effect on January 20, 1981, and the records of the Reagan administration were the first to be administered under this law.

We don't know if they would have still indicted him if he had actually listened to his lawyers.

What happened is that he chose to ignore his lawyers and he sadly made it easier for them to build a case against him.

They prosecute selectively but it doesn't negate the fact that he is now facing a serious case.

Bad analogy.

Had Trump listened to his lawyers and returned the docs instead of keeping them and fighting like Tom Fitton recommended, it would been likely impossible for the feds to prosecute him.

Trump also allegedly moved some docs from Mar a Lago to Bedminister without his lawyers' knowledge and had his lawyers say he already returned every document. This unneccesary action made it easy to charge Trump with obstruction of justice charges.

This entire case is sadly self-inflicted because Fitton apparently told Trump that he could keep any doc he wanted and to fight any requests from the National Records offices.

Fitton is a dumbass on this issue and you should never listen to him over actual lawyers. He doesn't even have a law degree.

I did more digging into Stefanik.

She is not only bad on immigration but she is horrible on climate change and she was even against the Trump tax cuts.

https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2021/05/stefanik-rise-irks-conservative-grps/

On policy, Stefanik is actually the single worst individual Trump is considering for his V.P.

Noem is a corporate shill too who sold out to Walmart and vetoed a trans in sports bill.

Lake and MTG are seen as crazy grifters by anyone who is not hardcore MAGA, they are electoral poison in suburbs and with independents, they would truly harm any ticket that has them on it.

She is absolutely awful on actual conservative policy but her career continued to advance merely because she brownnosed Trump.

On policy, Stefanik is one of the least conservative Republicans. She voted against Trump’s tax cuts and she voted for a bill to block Trump from withdrawing the U.S. from the Paris climate accord. She voted for Democrats’ Equality Act in 2019.

She is awful but Trump likes her because she is from the shithole of New York and she sucks up hardcore to Trump.

Paul Ryan and DeSantis have no connection at all dumbass.

This is the dumbest talking point from you Trump cultists.

These tweets are generic Cold war level neo-con discourse.

Zeldin is sadly the only male realistically in contention for the VP slot if Trump becomes the 2024 nominee.

I still think that if you are objectively choosing who is the best option for VP and you are forced to pick between Elise Stefanik, Kristi Noem, Kari Lake, MTG and Lee Zeldin, Lee Zeldin is sadly the least cancerous option out of these five.

onetruephilosoraptor 3 points ago +6 / -3

You are mentally ill if you think I am Bill Mitchell.

I am not even White dumbass.

You are not helping Trump with your lunacy.

2
onetruephilosoraptor 2 points ago +4 / -2

I agree, Bill Mitchell is absolutely a grifter.

As someone who is for DeSantis 2024, Bill Mitchell is not helping. He needs to fuck off.

onetruephilosoraptor -1 points ago +1 / -2

Zeldin is sadly the best VP choice one can get with Trump on the top of the ticket.

Zeldin is definitely not a squish on social/cultural issues unlike a Romney or Haley.

I don't like Zeldin's policy on Ukraine but it beats picking any of the four women listed.

Trump's fetish for New York and Zeldin's brownnosing might influence Trump to picking Zeldin over one of the four women listed above.

Zeldin is probably the only Male who even has a shot of being VP for a Trump ticket.

onetruephilosoraptor -1 points ago +1 / -2

In the sad timeline where Trump becomes the nominee again, objectively Trump's best choice for VP would be Lee Zeldin.

Zeldin has decent optics and he is solid on the issues. He has sucked up to Trump a lot recently so that makes me wonder.

Trump always gets horny over New York so Zeldin being from there is a major plus.

Trump's advisors claim that Trump is considering mainly women for VP.

Sadly all of the women that Trump is considering for VP are dogshit.

He is considering Kari Lake, MTG, Kristi Noem and Elise Stefanik.

Noem and Stefanik suck ass on the issues. Noem is a corporate shill and Stefanik supports mass immigration.

Meanwhile MTG and Kari Lake are so toxic that they would absolutely harm his icket significantly.

We saw from 2022, that the election is not just a referendum on the economy. If it was so, the GOP would have won the Senate.

Candidate quality doesn't matter for the Dems but it absolutely does matter for the GOP.

The Dems control the institutions so they can win with even braindead Fetterman.

GOP cannot do the same.

Lake and MTG are vastly more poisonous in suburbs and with independents than even Trump himself.

I can somewhat understand Imp leaving the presidential line blank in a hypothetical race between a GOP woman and Biden.

If anyone who claims to be on the right actually votes for Biden in 2024 after seeing how devastating his presidency has gone, they deserve to be forcibly institutionalized in a mental health facility.

In your crackpipe universe where it was RFK Jr. as the Dem nominee vs Romney/Haley as the GOP nominee, I would vote for RFK Jr. while voting downballot GOP.

The Dems won't let RFK Jr. get their nomination.

In reality, the GOP ticket in 2024 will be either DeSantis/Reynolds or Trump/? versus incumbent Biden.

I would vote for DeSantis/Reynolds enthusiastically if he is the nominee and I would hold my nose and begrudgingly still vote for Trump/? if he is the nominee as long as he has a few braincells remaining and he picks anyone else as VP besides Kari Lake or MTG.

Trump would guaranteed lose both North Carolina and Texas with either one of these two psychotic grifters(Lake/MTG) on the ticket,

If we are unlucky enough that Trump becomes the nominee, I pray he is smart enough to pick ANYONE else besides Kari Lake or MTG.

Yeah I definitely agree.

She takes voter outreach very seriously.

I would love to see her become Texas governor one day or replace John Cornyn in the U.S. Senate.

At this point the only people that give me hope for the Texas GOP improving are House Reps Beth Van Duyne, Chip Roy, as well as recently elected Tarrant County Judge Tim O'Hare.

The absolute worst people in the Texas GOP are still House Speaker Dade Phelan, House Rep Dan Crenshaw, Senator John Cornyn and to a lesser degree AG Ken Paxton solely for his various ethical scandals ruining our party image.

onetruephilosoraptor 10 points ago +11 / -1

I said either Chip Roy or Beth Van Duyne.

So you, The Imp prefers a woman?

Chip Roy and Beth Van Duyne are two of the best people we have not just from Texas but from all of the U.S.

You don't even live in Texas. You hate Chip Roy because he didn't endorse Trump and because he doesn't support having women serve in the military.

I really wish that we had a strong candidate in the 2022 Texas governor primaries that could have beaten Greg Abbott.

I liked Don Huffines' and Allen West's policies but they both just didn't have the appeal and the electability needed to beat an entrenched incumbent like Greg Abbott.

What definitely saved Abbott is that it was easy for his campaign to argue that Huffines or West could have potentially lost to Beto in the general which is why plenty of people were shy to pick either of them over Abbott who has atleast shown he can win against any Dem in Texas.

We need a strong conservative in Texas who is capable of beating Abbott in a primary as well as beating the Dem nominee in the general Texas governor of 2026.

Someone like Chip Roy or Beth Van Duyne running in 2026 has the chops needed to pull this off and be a massive upgrade from Abbott.

I respect RFK Jr for fighting hard against the COVID vaxxes.

I don't agree with him on his positions on climate change and gun control.

In a hypothetical general election between RFK Jr. and the GOP nominee, I will vote for the GOP nominee.

Donald Trump failed the J6 litmus test by setting up his most ardent supporters to show up to a glowtrap and didn't even pardon them while he pardoned Kushner's dad.

DeSantis has nothing to do with J6. He said he would pardon anyone who was prosecuted in a politically biased and unfair manner.
