I jumped on the ball a little later when it comes to looking at this forum, only joining during 2020 on Reddit because, let's face it, wasn't going to get any good or decent takes or news sources anywhere else.
I'm honeslty going to take a break for the next four years. I got nothing to really do or contribute besides my opinions and feelings, anyway. I'll probably lurk every once in a while. But for right now, it'd be too destructive for my life to go down the shitty rabbit hole that is our current situation.
I'm graduating high school this year (thank fuck) and hopefully will be attending W&M working on a history degree. Love reading the stuff and honestly can't get enough of it. History is important, also, as a lot of you know. Hopefully I can contribute something to the field, or be a curator 40 years down the line after the inevitable civil war. Either way, the paychecks are cushy from what I've researched.
That's honestly my path for the next four years. Jf this doesn't work out, then shit. I'll probably move out west to live with my grandparents in the middle of nowhere and drive a truck like my grandfather.

This. There isn't much politically me and my dad agree on as he is very down the middle of the road (or tries to be) due to his career in the navy, but this is something we agreed upon yesterday. They have failed us long ago, this was long coming.

My mom is one of those "I don't agree with any of the violence, it's not right," and it makes no sense to me. She literally told me it's easier to ignore what's happening, and I just can't bring myself to come along that line of thinking.
Our government has failed us for decades at this point, selling out to foreign powers, separating the American people, and over reaching their power over us. What happened yesterday has needed to happen for a while now. I'm glad it happened, and hope it inspires more people to act out.
Hell, the French Revolution was the ultimate culmination of centuries of bullshit and bullying the upper class had done. The Renaissance was essentially a giant middle class boom, and between then and the French Revolution, it's been nothing but the upper class trying to fuck over the middle class by any means necessary because the middle class represents a real threat to their status and power.
