Along with the probability the ad service is tied directly into the game's main data stream, I would not be suprised if anticheat is used to supress mods that disable this bullshit or that the master server blocks joining untill the ad is supposed to have finished.

These dipshits should have switched to a subscription model a long time ago as this rehashing has gotten pointless ever since the era of dlc on consoles.
