If the Chinese get mad, it's "Well they should have known better" or "They should be more careful". If the civilized world gets mad, it's "Let's calm down, we gain nothing from being mad" or "Forget it, there's nothing we can do." I understand not doing some things, like just recklessly screaming into other people's chats or putting people into positions where they really can't win, but staying mad about it and actually using that anger constructively is how things change. Always remember the things China has done, can do, and will do.
That said, if they play their cards wrong here they could actually endanger the lives of the CN branch girls, so I understand some of what they've done. China's killed people for less.
