Every movie/show/game/etc being about how precious some waifu is, is boring. Every movie/show/game/etc being about "she's not your typical princess, and she doesn't need a man" is both boring to the point of worthlessness, and annoying.
I don't really play games, watch movies, watch tv, etc, any more. It's all retro shit for me. At least Aragorn's relationship with Arwen makes sense.
I'm not watching a "Dune" remake, where the writer is strutting about all proud that "his" Bene Gesserit are "less space nun, more warrior princess". Go fuck your feminist self, dude.
A few recent events has made me hopeful that someone will reign him in. I just am going to check before I see it. If all he wants to do is up their personal intensity, I don't count that too badly.
OTOH, the deepest irony, is that part of Herbert's ideology was that women are more human than men. He made male "heroes" because people want to read about male characters, but if you think about it, women are basically the ones deciding what humanity ends up doing - most of the time in Dune.
His entire point, was that women are more capable of desisting from the passions that drive men. (I think he was wrong, I think women just have different passions.) And so, they were the "true" humans, and destined to lead humanity, because it made them better.
The hack-writers of today may end up making the Benne Gesserit as "weak" as men. XD Hopefully not, though.
