No maybe about it, you get the victim status, an ethnic identity you can openly be proud of, benefits from affirmative action, a blank cheque to be racist to anyone else, and little actual downside unless you live (not in the South, black people generally have little problems there) in an impoverished urban black ghetto - and if you were starting off white and are insane enough to act like this you're probably upper middle class.
It's funny you mention the South being different and I think that's something key that a lot of these "white privilege" clowns just don't get. I've grown up around black people, every school class growing up had black people, every job I've had there's been black people. There's some rural redneck areas where black people wouldn't be safe but even that's a small subset of the rural areas. I also know of the opposite I worked in a few towns where white people were almost non-existent. This whole mindset that I'm supposed to feel sad and apologetic for what atrocities I committed to who are just some other people that were just like I was is totally mindblowing.
Another thing you learn real quick if you've lived around black people is it's really freaking easy to pick out the ones up to no good and the same profile works just as well on the many white people who are also up to no good. Drive around in your low-rider blasting "fuck the police" leaned way back if your seat and see if that draws attention--and then think it's because of race when the white idiot that just did it the day before drew the same attention. Black guy that doesn't dress in prison chic driving around in a nice car in a nice neighborhood, literally no one gives a shit. It's all about presentation.
