Thing is, all you have to do to not become lactose intolerant is to never stop drinking milk/eating milk products after weaning, and that not only goes for any human, it goes for any mammal. Don't want your kids or pets to have problems? Make sure they get some milk once or twice a week, at least.

And frankly, I think the "the Beothuk were mad because the Vikings gave them milk and it gave them the runs" theory is bullshit. The Beothuk were likely just a bunch of primitive savage thugs no different than the Sentinelese; hell, they didn't share their island with the Mic-Macs, either, they only showed up AFTER the English extincted the Beothuk's asses. I think they were one of those few human groups that didn't know how to trade/weren't interested in it, and so were treated "like animals" because only people trade. Jesus fuck, these are the same people (Europeans) who would have been willing to trade with kynokefali, ffs, whites traded with anyone willing to do so, and likely were familiar with traveler's stories of ... extreme alternative human types. The main reason for all that "age of discovery" stuff was trade, after all. Not "looking for friends" ....
