I agree. There's a fair amount of genuinely constructive conversation taking place here. However, our humor is probably part of what's kept us all going for so long, as well as a critical target of people looking to censor others. It's not unexpected to see people having fun with acronyms.
At least no one has suggested something like: Worldwide Internet Gamergaters Gathering Escaping Reddit
I am all for humor, and that can actually be combined with dead seriousness. Lincoln was very well-known for craftily using humor in order to back up what he wanted to advance.
But if we make such a thing our official motto, then we are branding ourselves as a joke. And that is never a good thing. There is a difference between a comedian, who uses comedy to make points, and a clown who is just ridiculous for its own sake.
For sure. These places might seem to have very few people because of how little people post, but they actually have a tremendous amount of lurkers as well. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them were actually quite influential on whichever particular side they represent. A lot of the conversations and comments made here are repeated on social media platforms -- and vice versa.
I understand what you're saying in regards to humor; we can still have jokes and make fun of things without being the joke. Of course humor is a go to mechanism people use when coping with difficult times, but it's important that the messages within aren't lost at its expense.
I think overall the community has demonstrated that humor is concomitant to who we are, but we're also very much more, too.

Wait. They have needed a excuse to do that?
I thought it just came naturally to them.
Depends on the 'them'. I mostly do not want to make normies think that we are a complete joke.
Which is why I actually always opposed the anime-heavy theme on Half KiA.
Did I offend you in the Gamergate Safe Space?
OP is indeed a faggot.

How about Anti Corruption Rebellion Operating Station - New Youth Movement (ACRONYM)?
I prefer Technological Recreation Arranged Protest Site.
I can't get TRAPS to roll off my tongue.
Do you support GAYZ or TRAPS?
I'd prefer Fanatically Antisemitic Gamergate Syndicate, but this works too.
I'd prefer Basket of Deplorables
