As long as these cities side with highwaymen against the truckers that feed them, they cannot expect the truckers to risk both their own lives and criminal prosecution to keep them supplied.
I've seen this unintended consequence floating around for a little while: insurance companies refusing coverage to truckers in risky areas. Insurance companies are deeming these cities to be a risk without law enforcement, and are refusing to insure in the risk areas.
Business decision. Risk assessment.
And the insurance industry packs a big political punch in the US, they're the first cousins of bankers. Insurance industry pulling out of these markets could really nuke their local economies, way more than rampaging angries ever did.
It would also render the "They'll be OK, they've got insurance!" nonsense spewed by the rioters moot (not like I've ever heard tell of one of them stopping to check, mind)
True enough, it's like the thing about life insurance being a bet with the life insurance firm that you'll die before they think you will ... the insurance firm is going to factor anticipated losses (and recovery) into their fee schedule and, well, losses look to be "everything, every time you get hit" and recovery is going to be a bit fat zero at this rate...
"Insurance industry pulling out of these markets could really nuke their local economies, way more than rampaging angries ever did."
and the cycle repeats and we get another Hitler/Caeser type rising up god damn self fueling problems...
Yeah, well, I wouldn't be eager to go to a place where there's risk of ambush groups hiding behind the "Thanks to all our food supply workers!" billboards either.

It was moot to begin with.
You're still sending their payments skyrocketing. Probably costing them more in the long term than the goods they lost.

You assume that there are any businesses left in those cities after the rampaging has gone on.
Obviously the problem is capitalism and we need to riot for more Communism. That'll fix all the insurance problems!
I hear the bitter laughter of ICBC customers.
Yeah, at the moment, the only winning move for anybody with assets in DNC-antifa areas is not to play...
Good. They shouldn’t cause it is a huge risk that would just drive up the cost of their insurance and puts their drivers at risk.

Based trucking companies
